There were so many things coming to me at the start of 2023 that I kept postponing my plan to have my own newsletter. I hardly ever had time to think about anything else when working in a 9-to-5 corporate setting with a hectic working atmosphere. All those tasks even chased me during my sleep.
But I am glad that things have started to slow down a bit. I can now breathe, sleep soundly, and give some of my attention to my personal project, one of which is to have my own newsletter.
To be honest, one of the things I've always wanted was to write my own newsletter. And it took me years to actually start it. So, after all that time preparing for this moment, do I feel prepared? Is this the best writing I've ever done? The answer is an obvious no. All those years I've put off are simply a result of my laziness and denial. It's just me doing things that I'm really good at—procrastinating.
In the end, you just really need to do it. It doesn't matter how long you prepare yourself. In the end, you can only really achieve something by actually doing it—not just by planning but by executing it.
Shout-out to YouTuber Ali Abdaal. I was inspired to start this newsletter because of his video, "Why everyone should start an email newsletter," which truly hit home with me. I suggest you watch it as well. Who knows, you might be the next one to get inspired.
I don't know how my journey with Substack is going to be. I still haven't decided on the niche or the content, and I don't know for how long I can be consistent with writing a newsletter.
But one thing I know is that I enjoyed writing. Probably that's the only reason that I need? Whatever it is, I’m excited to see how my journey is going to be in this new year of 2023.
Until then, I'm thrilled. With the publication of this first newsletter, I have achieved my first goal for the year. There will undoubtedly be more. The story wouldn't finish here. I'm excited to see what 2023 has in store.
Cheers!
